Oldtown Sacramento
Museums, entertainments, and restaurants galore! This National Registered
Landmark and 28-acre State Historic Park takes you into the past
of Sacramento's waterfront business district. I've heard rave reviews
about Oldtown (thanks mom) and understand some of you may be interested

McClellan Aviation Museum
Located right down the street (by right, I mean a three minute walk).
Their motto; "Preserving Aviation History with Dignity & Honor".
They have tons of old planes for you to crawl around. I know, cause

California Foundry Museum
This museum is also just down the street from us (in the other direction,
more like a mile - you'll probably want to drive). This museum is
dedicated to the collection and preservation of historical records
pertaining to the history of the foundry industry in California.

Guided Horseback Tours
Gibson Ranch offers a 4 mile long (approximately 1 hour) trail ride
along Dry Creek. Trail rides are $28/person. This is just north

Art Gallery
The Exploding Head Gallery features contemporary art and ceramics.

Central Pacific Railroad Passenger Station
A reconstruction of Sacramento's 1876 depot. Located in Old Sacramento,
about twenty minutes south. Daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Adults $3, children

Effie Yeaw Nature Center
An award-winning environmental and cultural education center located
within the American River Parkway. View wild animals from the area,
and enjoy hands-on museum exhibits. On Saturday the 14th at 1:30
pm, get a close up look at birds of prey with the "Hawk Talk" progam.

Cool movies at the Imax theater! About twenty-five minutes away.

Fairytale Town
Located at 3901 Land Park Drive, Sacramento (916.264.5233) this
children's theme park features imaginative three-dimensional play
sets baed on fairy tales, friendly live animals, learning gardens
and special events. Seasonal hours, so call ahead. Visit their

Governor's Mansion State Historic Park
Built in 1977, this stately mansion housed governors from 1903 until
1967. Ronald Regan was the last governor to reside there. Located
in downtown Sacramento. Visit their website.
River Otter Water Taxi
See the Sacramento River from about a water taxi! The ride up and
back takes about an hour and costs $6 for adults, $3 for children.
You can catch the taxi at 12:45, 1:05 and 2:05 from Oldtown Sacramento
on Saturday the 14th (I think - check it out yourself to confirm
as I refuse to be responsible for you missing your boat!) This is
a very popular tour, and it is recommended that you call ahead for

Sacramento Zoo
Visit the Zoo! See cool animals! Need I say more? Admission is $6.75
for adults, $4.50 for children. Coincidentally, this is very near
to Fairytale Town. Website.
Scandia Family Fun Center
Oooh! Ooooh! Take me here! Only three miles away. Miniature golf
complex with two 18-hole courses, bumper boats, Lil' Indy race cars,
batting cages and arcade. Prices vary (can purchase single rides
or packages, but it looks like you'd probably spend about $20?
Joe has been here, and he says its FUN with a capital FUN.

Sutter's Fort State Historic Park
Sacramento's earliest settlement founded by John Sutter in 1839.
Was known for the hospitality of its founder after he offered aid
to the infamous Donner Party. Self-guided audio tours explain the
exhibit rooms, which include copper and blacksmith shops, a bakery,
jail, dining room and living quarters. Only $3. Looks like its downtown.

Guided White Water Rafting!
Forget the Fun Center! Lets go rafting! May not work on Saturday,
but if you'll be in town for a day or two, this half day rafting
adventure on the South Fork of the American River would be a blast!

California Military Museum
California's rich militia and military heritage from pre-statehood
to contemporary times. Tens of thousands of artifacts, documents
and memorabilia. Downtown Sacramento, about twenty minutes away.
Adults $5, but they are only open Tuesday through Sunday. Learn

Discovery Museum History center
Features a lively mix of artifacts and displays reflecting Sacramento's
historical and cultural heritage and the Gold Rush of 1849. Again,
open Tuesday through Sunday, but only 5 buckaroos. Located in oldtown

California Exposition
Visit Waterworld USA. On Tuesdays, visit the Farmers Market. Wager
on major thoroughbred racing, Wednesday through Saturday. Their
website was kinda cruddy as far as information on the waterpark
or racing, or anything else they might offer so call 916.263.3279

Waterworld USA, Sacramento
Thrilling rides, slides and attractions for all ages. This water
park is nearby (in the California Exposition above)!!
I believe this is about 15 minutes from here. You can get

For those of you that came from Juneau and are forced to do
your shopping online, here is heaven 25 minutes from our home. The
Galleria Mall, with stores like Abercrombie & Fitch, Borders,
J Crew, J-Jill, See's Candy, Victoria's Secret and more (including
Men's Warehouse, where you guys need to pic up your tuxes).
