I took these photos at work last week. It seems her newly constructed Pack-N-Play does more than just keep her safe in the work place. It tastes good, too.
Does this come in cherry?

The cover of the book for Lori.
The big news for this week is that Joe and I bought a new car. He has been coveting Suburbans for a very long time. Last night we went car browsing (again) and ended up buying the first vehicle we looked at. Its a Midnight Blue 2000 Chevy Tahoe Suburban Z71 (the sport luxury edition). Its great - heated leather seats with lumbar support, 57,000 miles, stereo volume that adjusts with the speed to make up for noise, brush guard, roof rack, etc. etc. etc. It was also our salesman's first vehicle sale. That made me feel warm and fuzzy inside, because he has four kids to support (so he said). He's originally from Russia, and was very opinionated about politics here, especially those "stupid liberals". And he LOVED Ronald Reagan. He was amusing. Photos are below:

To celebrate our new purchase, we went to Awful Annie's for breakfast again. I forgot to tell you about the bathrooms last time. The restaurant is in an old historical building, so the bathrooms are private, like in someone's house (one person per restroom, presumably) with antique dressers, frosted windows, and brick walls. VERY COOL!
It was one of the highlight finds of our first visit there (Joe, you've GOT to check out the bathrooms!). Because, really, nothing makes you feel better about the restaurant you're eating at than a nice, clean, relaxing john.

This has been a really elusive shot, but I finally got a somewhat decent video of Sydney pulling herself up.
Hey there hi there ho there! First things first - another animated gif of Sydney (due to multiple demands for more - although those people didn't leave COMMENTS in the COMMENT section, which is what its there for. Come on, TRY IT. The more people who play, the more fun I have). If you have a slow connection, this will look wierd until all the photos are loaded (Mom). Once they are you can hit refresh to make it go again once it stops.
Sydney finally has the hang of the bottle.
Alright, now what else do I have for you guys? Since I started with Sydney photos, I'll put up some more of those. Here is a still photo of that wide-eyed bottleholic.
I love this outfit (at least we're getting mileage
from her clothing - still in the 3 to 6 month stuff).
Who's out there?!
Seems like I capture a lot of this
around here. Its still cute every time.
Once Syd started crawling, she became more mobile than Joe's phone. Within days of crawling she was pulling herself up on the furniture (Superbowl Sunday to be exact) and now she crawls around and then sits up on her knees like a squirrel. Which is cute in the morning (see below) but not so cute in the middle of the night when there is screaming to accompany it. She is teething, so we're getting a LOT of that right now. And not a lot of the picture above. Back to the teething - bottom left front tooth. You can see the white edge about to come through. It looks like the bottom right is also working its way up. She is Miserable (with the capital M).
You can't tell, but she always has this pacifier in
upside down. If you try to fix it she puts it back.
Like the halo of binkies? A little tip we read
somewhere (not the halo part - she did that).
Leave binkies in a corner of the crib and she'll get them herself at night.
Now that she is crawling we've had to baby-proof the house, which we're doing room-by-room - kinda like the unpacking which we never have finished. At this point I want to say, why bother - leave the boxes... we'll just be moving in 24 months again anyway (grin).
You can see her trying to work it out in her head.
She grows more fascinated by the dog everyday.
Syd's hair is now long enough that her father thought it was time she started wearing it in a proper mohawk. It was soooo cute! It falls down really quickly though.
Look at that grin.
I was trying to keep her corralled at work. It
worked like a charm! She loved the box!
Superbowl Sunday was pretty exciting around here because Joe was totally rooting for the Seahawks (he used to live in Seattle). I made some of Lori and Matt's famous chili. We pigged out on Totinos and pizza rolls for lunch, and then ate Frito Pies for dinner (Fritos layered with chili, layered with cheese). Talk about your indigestion! Unfortunately the Seahawks lost after a very dramatic game.
Joe stares down the opposition.
I have not been good about taking the camera out with us lately, so I'll just have to tell you this story. Joe and I have been talking forever about getting up to go for waffles some weekend. Last Saturday Joe woke up around 10:00 and was like, "Get your shoes on. I want me some waffles." I didn't tell him I'd already had Cream of Wheat. Why? I LOVE WAFFLES. So we decided to drive to a nearby city we hadn't spent much time in and find something that looked good. The first town was kind of a "Welcome and Thanks for Visiting" town without much in the way of restaurants on its main (possibly only) street. The second town appeared only to have a freeway exit ramp going through it. The third town, Lincoln had tons of old quaint stores on its main drag, which totally appealed to me. So we stopped (by now it was about lunch time) grabbed some coffee at a little cafe, and ate breakfast at this joint called "Awful Annie's". They should rename it AWESOME Annie's. Um yum yum! Joe had a Hawaiian waffle (toasted coconut, pineapple, strawberries, macadamia nuts and whipped cream). He said it was delicious. I had a plain belgian waffle which was also divine. They had Trivial Pursuit cards in with the sugar packets, which was a really nice touch. I totally recommend it to you guys trying to make up for whatever you did wrong last weekend. Afterward we stopped at this little "antiques and collectibles" shop. I found an adorable fairy tale book for Sydney. It has really exquisite drawings, and gold-edged paper. She'll be able to read it when she's 18. Seriously though - when did they stop making books like that?
