So here I am, finally updating this page with our experiences from the last two months. Where to start? Geez! I guess I'll start with the week Sydney was due. She was due June 13, but as the date approached it became very apparent that she hadn't gotten word. Joe's mom came down on the 11th, determined not to wait. Dad and Janice became impatient and came down a week later. So the six of us sat around, twidling our fingers... waiting. Joe and I continued working. Every day Joe would go into the office and hear "What are you still doing here?!" Everyday I would hear advice on how to get labor started. And I tried! Oh, how I tried - speed bumps, balsamic vinaigrette, walking, ginger - you name it, I tried it. Nada. The grandparents spent their time touring the area and whipping up tons of food and yummy, fattening deserts. I forgot to take a single photo.

The doctors started doing non-stress tests on the 17th (checking baby's heart rate, contractions and doing an ultrasound) and did them every three days after that. Friday, June 24 (12 days after Sydney was due) we went in for another test (ho hum). By then I was feeling like the whole pregnancy had been a big joke - ha ha, got ya - that she was never coming and I was doomed to be eternally fat. When the doctors did the ultra sound they decided that conditions in her little home were deteriorating and served her an eviction notice. Go straight to the hospital, do not pass go, do not stop for lunch (crap, I forgot to eat - was going to do that after the appointment).

We went over to the hospital and got checked in around 4 pm. They induced labor. Induction is apparently worse than normal labor. By the next morning I was vomiting (on a very empty stomach) and begging for an epidural (I had told them I didn't want one). Around noon they told us to expect Sydney to make her appearance by 5 or 7 pm. We called the family and they gathered in the waiting room, just in the nick of time. She arrived early, at 3:30 pm. She had the cord around her neck, was blue, and gave us the scare of our lives. But she came around and we brought home a total angel.

So we've been home for five weeks, trying to get used to the lack of sleep, and trying to fatten Syd up so she'll sleep longer at night. Its hit and miss. The lame thing? My drinking coffee makes her CRANKY, so we're getting less sleep, and I still can't drink caffeine. I agreed to give it up for the pregnancy, but... She's lucky I adore her. And I do. Its hard not to. See for yourself. Here are some photos from the last five weeks.

PS. We're switching web servers, so if in the next week you find this site down, its because there was a hitch transfering the DNS. Just check back EVERY SINGLE DAY. Same goes for emails. Also, we're doing something new with the web, and are going to be selling space. For cheap. Which doesn't mean we're cheap - just economical. We're going to have all sorts of cool functions available. Anyway. If you want a website, or want to start a blog, email me and we'll set you up.

PSS. Linda is in remission and got the green light to go home. She heads back to Juneau on Thursday. She is very excited! Oh, and Jennifer (Benton) Bell should have had her baby girl this morning. I'm still waiting to hear, but she had a C-Section scheduled for 7:30 am. I'll let you know when I hear more.
