For anyone else who might be missing the snow... John took these photos just for you (well, for me, but me share good). We're headed out of town for Thanksgiving. We're leaving the dog and the house in the capable hands of Joe's co-worker. I wonder if she'll survive it (the dog that is). She's such a mama's girl. Anywho - will have more when we return.

Just for reference, that fence is 4.5 feet high.

John just called to update me on the weather situation since I have been jealously monitoring the amount of snow that keeps falling and falling and falling back home. He sent me to KINY's website to get this piece of news. He said the roads are just littered with vehicles that have spun off into the median. MAN I miss the snow! What I wouldn't give to be there right now. There's nothing like shoveling the snow off the garage roof and then jumping from the roof into the pile you've made on the ground. Or meeting your friends at the end of some desolate road, tying intertubes to the back of the trucks and hanging on for dear life as you're pulled through piles of cold, white fluff. Or sitting in a warm house with a cup of hot cocoa after sledding, watching the novice drivers trying to make it up the downtown hills. They're slipping and sliding, rear tires burning holes in the ice. You're cheering them on, secretly hoping they fail so you can watch them slide all the way back down the hill and try again. When they get stuck you'd run out there to push them free, cause hey, there's no fun to be had watching them sit there pounding on the steering wheel. But night was the best, when those big fat flakes were falling silently from the sky and you'd stand on the deserted street beneath the streetlight watching them drift slowly to the ground. Ahhh... But it's going to be a b!+ch when it rains!

I miss these rare Juneau blizzards.

Happy Halloween!

Syd went out for the first time in costume to scare up sweets from our neighbors (all two of them). I found a really cute ladybug costume with a hat that was almost impossible to keep on her head. We had to keep both of her hands full so she wouldn't take it off. It took us about half an hour to get half a block to Joe's co-worker's house because Syd was so intent on picking up rocks and leaves and barking back at the neighbor dog. We decided three candy bars were enough for her and daddy to share and headed home after the second house. It was a lot of fun though. I'm going to enjoy Halloween.

She was so impressed with getting

Proud Papa.

One of the reasons I've been so delinquent about
updating the website. Due April 30, 2006.

You may have heard the rumors. Yes, they're true. We are expecting our second child at the end of April. This pregnancy has been really hard so far - I've never been so sick in my life. From about week 6 until just this past week I've been what Joe calls an "involuntary bulemic". I haven't been able to keep down anything. I also haven't been able to do much more than drag my sorry butt into work, feed the child, and lay on the couch. The laundry has been piling up and Joe and I have both lost weight. The poor guy has been starving (need more A Man, A Can, and A Grill type cookbooks - easy recipes with picture instructions)! In the past week I've started to feel better and think the worst of it has passed. Its obviously too early to know the sex, and we may not find out this time anyway. I want to be surprised (although I'm just itching to know, you know?). We'll keep you updated. I have more photos to add (Janet finally sent our camera back. She accidentally ended up taking it home last August). Bri came to town for a visit, there was kayaking, state fairing, impromptu brie baking, and more. For now though, I need to get some food and get to work. More later!
